FAMILY OWNED SINCE 1966

Our Story

Countdown’s Award Shoppe and 12 Hour Awards — a family business with a history of craftsmanship, service, and growth.

From model rockets to memorable awards, our story began in 1966 and continues through generations of family ownership.

1966

The beginning

Mr. Dick Repper founded Countdown Inc. The company built Saturn V model rockets sold at the NASA souvenir shop in Cape Canaveral, Florida, before branching into plaques and trophies.

1974

Family ownership

Billy and Myra Sermons purchased the Award Shoppe, then a small local awards store.

1986

A new generation

The Award Shoppe was sold to Billy and Myra’s son, Michael Sermons.

1988

Countdown joins the family

Mr. Dick Repper sold Countdown Inc. to Billy and Myra Sermons. For two years, the family managed both businesses.

1990

Countdown’s Award Shoppe

With Billy and Myra’s retirement, Countdown Inc. and the Award Shoppe merged to form Countdown’s Award Shoppe.

2005

Growing locally

Countdown’s Award Shoppe acquired The Trophy Center, another local awards store.

2009

A broader network

Award Shoppe Corporation partnered with other awards companies in Florida to expand product selection and speed of service.

TODAY & THE FUTURE

Family roots. Modern awards.

Countdown’s Award Shoppe remains our storefront name, while 12 Hour Awards serves customers online. Our aim is the same: personal service, quality work, and fast turnaround when it matters.
